Cyperus dwarkensis K.C.Sahni & H.B.Naithani

This species is native to Central Somalia, extending to NW India. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 24 species of Cyperus found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Small tufted annual herb ; up to 20 cm long , glabrous with short and very thin roots . Stems (culms) trigonous above , glabrous . Leaves 3–4 per stem , longer than stems ; leaf sheath long , greenish yellow tinged purple ; leaf blade linear . Inflorescences composed of a single cluster of spikes or a dense head of 2–15 crowded spikelets ; spikelets 15–25-flowered , oblong , slightly compressed , grey and reddish brown ; glumes broadly ovate with a wide keel , apex obtuse or retuse , mucronate , margins scarious , silvery , sometimes reddish brown or tinged purple . Fruits nut , c . 1 . 2 × 0 . 7 mm , oblong , compressed , slightly twisted , reddish brown , reticulate , minutely papillose . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 4) .
