Densely tufted perennial , up to 70 cm tall with a short erect rhizome . Leaves flat , rounded at apex ; basal leaves numerous , flat . Inflorescence a composed anthela with many small pedunculate clusters of sessile spikelets ; spikelets pale brown or yellowish brown ; glumes ovate , apex rounded , margins wide , whitish . Fruits nutlet dark brown to almost black as mature , obovoid , smooth or tuberculate . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 4) .
