Leaves linear , with flat or folded glabrous blades , tapering at the apex . Inflorescences a head of 9-12 digitate racemes , light greenish brown (rarely yellow) turn darker brown as they mature . Spikelets 3- to 4-flowered , 2-awned . Glumes persistent ; similar ; reaching apex of florets ; thinner than fertile lemma ; gaping . Flowers lodicules 2 ; cuneate ; fleshy . Fruits caryopsis with adherent pericarp ; trigonous . (Ref . POWO ; 2022) .
