Inflorescence a single straight or coiled raceme , the spikelets in two opposite , subopposite or adjacent ranks , c . sunk in thee rhachis , this tough or fracturing into segments of 1-4(-8) spikelets . Spikelets 1-flowered , with or without a minute rhachilla extension concealed in the callus hairs , dorsally compressed , edgeways to the rhachis .
