Inflorescence dense , cylindrical terminal spike , tapering at both ends . Spikelet/Floret with pairs of long barbed bristle-like appendages (awns) ; bristles have tiny backward-pointing barbs that cling onto clothing or animal fur , facilitating dispersal .
