Greyish green loosely tufted perennial , the culms often procumbent and creeping , geniculately ascending , up to 25 cm high , clothed at the base in whitish cataphylls comprising a short broad coriaceous sheath and a rudimentaty blade ; leaf-blades flat , stiff and pungent , loosely villous with bulbous-based hairs . Panicle triangular in outline , the axis and lower branches covered in dark sticky glandular patches . Spikelets 1 . 5-1 . 9 mm long . Fruits caryopsis not known .
