Blepharis ciliaris (L.) B.L.Burtt

This species is native to Arabian Peninsula, S Iran and Pakistan. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 3 species of Blepharis found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Woody perennial shrublet ; up to 30 cm high . Stems erect or spreading , stiff , branching from the base . Leaves opposite , 10–60 × 3–15 mm , grey-green , deciduous , oblong to narrow ovate to elliptic-ovate , apex spine-tipped , margins with up to 10 teeth per side , puberulous ; bracts 2–5 pairs , sterile , 3-5 cm , pubescent , margins with 3-5 pairs of spines ; apex with a long spine . Inflorescences 2–30 in short spikes ; peduncle 5–30 mm . Flowers white with purple veins to purple-blue ; calyx of 4 unequal lobes ; dorsal 13–18 mm , 5–7-veined from base , broadly elliptic-ovate , apex (1–)3-toothed ; ventral 8–12 mm , 2-toothed ; lateral 6–8 mm , ovate ; corolla white with purple veins to purple-blue , 15–20 cm long , 1-lipped , flat with 3 obtuse lobes , the central largest , puberulous beneath ; corolla united basally to form a short tube 4–6 mm ; stamens 4 , attached at the mouth of the corolla tube , exserted .
