Inflorescences in terminal spikes on side branches ; bracts and bracteoles 2 , ± 3 mm , ovate with scarious margins , overlapping . Flowers small , c . 6-8 mm long , white to pinkish with purple markings ; calyx ± 4 mm , 4-lobed , green with scarious margins , ciliate ; corolla 2-lipped , white to pinkish with purple markings , lower lip ± 3 mm , with 3 teeth at the apex , upper lip ± 3 mm ; stamens 2 ; anthers displaced , the lower with a basal appendage ; ovary nearly glabrous ; style thinly hairy , branches 2 , subequal , minute .
