Much branched small shrub ; up to 1 m tall . Stems erect to ascending , branching from base , green to greyish green , pubescent . Leaves 25–70 × 15–40 mm , ovate to ovate-oblong , apex obtuse , base rounded to shortly cuneate , margins entire or undulate , pubescent ; petiole up to 2 cm . Inflorescences 1–3 , in the axils of leaves . Flowers violet to pale purple , funnel-shaped , short-lived ; calyx 10–15 mm , 5-lobed with linear-lanceolate lobes ; corolla violet to pale purple , funnel-shaped , expanded and 5-lobed above ; tube ± 15 mm ; lobes ± 5 mm ; stamens 4 ; anthers parallel ; style persisting in mature capsule . Fruit capsule , ± 15–20 mm , ellipsoid , greenish when mature , finely pubescent with adpressed hairs , many-seeded . Seeds 3–4 × 3–4 mm , flat , orbicular , grey to brown . (Ref .
