Rungia pectinata (L.) Nees

This species is native to S Arabian Peninsula, extending eastwards to Tropical & Subtropical Asia. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is one species of Rungia occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual herb ; up to 40 cm tall . Stems erect , angular , pubescent especially on the angles . Leaves opposite , 15–55 × 8–25 mm , bright green , elliptic to ovate-lanceolate , apex acute , base cuneate , margins entire , pubescent on both surfaces ; petiole 5–15 mm . Inflorescences in axillary spikes ; bracts overlapping , 7–9 mm , green with broad white scarious margins , pubescent and ciliate . Flowers pale blue ; calyx ± 3 mm , lobes linear ; corolla pale blue , 2-lipped , about as long as the bracts , the lower lip pubescent outside ; stamens 2 ; anthers displaced , the lower with a basal appendage . Fruit capsule , ± 2 mm , sparsely hairy , exserted from the calyx , 2-4-seeded , . Seeds ± 1 mm in diameter , orbicular , rugose , brown . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
