Sesuvium revolutifolium Ortega

This species is native to W & Central U.S.A., extending to Mexico; introduced and cultivated elsewhere. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 known species of Sesuvium found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Perennial herb . Stems prostrate or ascending , branched from the base . Leaves up to 60 mm long , flat or terete , lanceolate , oblong , ovate or obovate , glabrous or finely papillate ; stipules entire . Inflorescences with remarkable pedicels up to 20 mm long , rarely subsessile . Flowers pink , 8 – 10 mm long ; stamens 30 – 50 ; anthers 0 . 45 – 0 . 65 mm long . Fruit capsule , round . Seeds 1 – 1 . 2 mm in diameter , black , aril tightly adhering to the seed coat . (Ref . POWO ; 2023) .
