This species is native to Sahara, extending to Sahel and S Africa, Indian Subcontinent, eastwards to Thailand, NE Jawa to Lesser Sunda Islands (Bali), and Australia. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 species of Trianthema found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).
Annual or short-lived perennial herb ; up to 50 cm high . Stems prostrate , branched , succulent , tinged red , finely papillose or glabrous . Leaves 1–20 x 1–4 mm , cylindric to lanceolate to oblanceolate or obovate , apex rounded to apiculate , base clasping . Inflorescences 2–3 , axillary , sessile . Flowers white to pink ; calyx lobes ± 1 mm , each with a subapical mucro ; stamens 5 . Fruit capsule , ± 2 mm , flattened at the top in the centre , (1–)2-seeded . Seeds black , concentrically wrinkled . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
