Anabasis setifera Moq.

This species is native to Egypt, extending eastwards to NW India. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 6 species of Amaranthus found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Much branched fleshy subshrub ; up to 60 cm high . Stems thick , green , divaricate , with fleshy young shoots , and conspicuous groove along the centre of each side . Leaves opposite , ± 3 . 5 mm , fleshy , truncated , club-like , base clasping . Inflorescences borne in clusters of 3-7 in the leaf nodes . Flowers small , brownish ; petals absent . Fruit 5-winged , each wing ± 3 mm across ; wings white- membranous , orbicular .
