Atriplex farinosa Forssk.

This species is native to Egypt, extending to NE Tropical Africa and Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 4 species of Atriplex found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

An erect bushy shrub ; up to 1 . 5 m tall , whole plant covered in whitish powder . Stems erect , with spreading branches , white to grey , densely mealy . Leaves alternate , 10–25 x 6–15 mm , oblong to ovate-oblong , margin entire , auriculate at base , grey-green , smooth , succulent , with white powder on both sides , lower leaves usually smaller ; petioles 2–5 mm . Inflorescences in sessile clusters arranged in terminal leafless panicles ; bracteoles 2–4 mm , suborbicular , fused below . Flowers small , pale green , with a pink ting at the base ; perianth of male flowers lobed . Fruit enclosed in flat circular bracteoles . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
