Atriplex stocksii (Wight) Boiss.

This species is native to Somalia, Socotra, S Arabian Peninsula and SE Pakistan. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 4 species of Atriplex found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Dioecious . Perennial shrub or subshrub ; up to 50-60 cm high . Stems erect , branched ; old stems woody at the base ; bark white to grey , mealy when young . Leaves subopposite , sessile to shortly petiolate , with leaf-fascicles , leaf-lamina 5–15 x 6–15 mm , broadly ovate to orbicular , grey-green , mealy , apex rounded to retuse , margin entire , undulate , base tapering into a short petiole ; petiole 2–4 mm . Inflorescences in dense sessile clusters arranged in leafless terminal panicles , in the axils of leafy bracts ; bracteoles 2 in female flowers , c . 3 mm , with 0–2 appendages on each side , enlarging and enclosing the fruit . Flowers small , yellowish-green ; perianth 5-lobed ; stamens 5 . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
