Caroxylon omanense (Boulos) Freitag & G.Kadereit

This species is native to Oman. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 4 species of Caroxylon found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Shrub ; up to 50 cm high . Stems with divaricate branches ; young branches densely covered with leaves , grey-green ; old branches woody , with grey-brown bark . Leaves subopposite , ± 1 . 5 cm , linear , adnate to the stem , rigid , covered with scurfy , scale-like hairs . Inflorescences few at the tips of branches , sessile ; bracts 2 , similar to the leaves . Flowers bisexual ; perianth segments 5 , ± 3 mm , free , boat-like , acute at the tip , with scarious margins ; stamens 5 ; anthers sagittate . Fruit perianth connivent , 5 . 5–6 mm , with scarlet membranous wings . Seeds 1 . 5 mm in diameter , discoid . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
