Annual herb ; up to 10-40 cm high , grey-farinose , with unpleasant smell . Stems erect , much-branched , ridged or angled , mealy , smelling strongly of rotting fish . Leaves 7–25 x 5–20 mm , grey-mealy , rhombic-ovate to ovate , apex acute or obtuse , margins entire , sometimes with 2 lateral lobes near the base ; petioles 5–15 mm . Inflorescences in terminal and axillary cymes , leafy , in short dense clusters at first , becoming looser and longer at seed-maturity . Flowers small ; perianth segments 5 , fused at the base , not keeled , densely mealy ; stamens 1–5 , absent in female flowers . Fruit pericarp , membranous , globose . Seeds 1-1 . 25 mm , horizontal , black , glossy , slightly keeled along the margin . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
