Digera muricata (L.) Mart.

This species is native to Egypt, extending to E Kenya and Malesia. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is one species of Digera occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Erect clump-forming annual herb ; up to 20–50(-75) cm high . Stems erect to ascending , simple , ridged , glabrous or with fine white hairs . Leaves opposite , 20–60 x 6–30 mm , linear to ovate , acute , base abruptly narrowing into the petiole . Inflorescences borne on spikes arising from the leaf axils ; bracts membranous , each subtending 3 flowers , the central flower fertile , and the lateral 2 sterile . Flowers bisexual , white or pink ; perianth of 5 unequal segments , 3–4 mm , the outer 2 longer and many-nerved , the inner shorter and 1–3-nerved ; stamens 5 . Fruit capsule , ± 2 mm , subglobose , ridged and covered with a persistent style , indehiscent and falling entire with the perianth , sterile flowers and bracts . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
