Salsola drummondii Ulbr.

This species is native to E Arabian Peninsula, extending to Iran and NW India. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 species of Salsola found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Erect woody shrub ; 30-70(-75) cm high , glabrous , drying black . Stems grey-white , glabrous ; older branches brownish and knotty , become gnarld . Leaves opposite , 2–5(–8) x 2–3 mm , sessile , stubby , clavate to subglobose or obpyriform , succulent , rounded at the tip , margin entire , obtuse at the top . Inflorescences inconspicuous , interspersed with leaves ; bracts succulent , leaf-like , pink , papery . Flowers bisexual ; perianth segments 5 , scarious , developing a wing in fruit , 5–7 mm (including the wings) , wings subequal , yellow-tinged red ; stamens 5 . Fruit subglobose , with yellow or pink papery wings . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
