Salsola schweinfurthii Solms

This species is native to Egypt, Palestine, Jordan, extending eastwards to Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. Miller & Cope; 1996). There are 2 species of Salsola found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Shrub ; up to 30-50(-65) cm tall , glabrous . Stems ascending , glabrous ; younger branches smooth and white ; older branches becoming brown with longitudinally-fissured bark . Leaves subopposite or alternate , 5–25 x 2–3 mm , sessile , linear- terete , straight or curved , with an apiculate tip , and tufts of short woolly hairs in the axils . Inflorescences 2–5 in the upper axils of leaves , forming loose or dense spikes , subtended by 2 bracts ; bracts succulent , broadly ovate . Flowers bisexual ; perianth segments 5 , with white , scarious margins , developing a wing in fruit ; stamens 5 . . Fruit perianth 4–7 mm (including the wings) , wings subequal . (Ref .
