Sevada schimperi Moq.

This species is native to Egypt, extending to NE Tropical Africa and Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 species of Salsola found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Small spreading shrub ; up to 40 cm high , with a woody base , glabrous . Stems and branches ascending to erect , spreading ; older stems with fissured bark . Leaves alternate , or subopposite , 2–15 x 1–2 mm , grey-green , succulent , cylindrical , obtuse , indurate , glaucous , with an axillary tuft of short white hairs . Inflorescences in clusters of 3–10 , forming terminal spikes . Flowers yellow ; perianth segments ± 1 mm , subglobose ; stamens c . 1 . 5 mm ; anthers c . 0 . 5 mm , yellow . Fruit ovoid , red , with an acute tip . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 1) .
