Searsia retinorrhoea (Steud. ex Oliv.) Moffett

This species is native to NE Tropical Africa, extending to Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 4 species of Searsia found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Dioecious . Shrub or small tree ; up to 2 m tall . Stems much-branched , slender , reddish-brown ; bark brown , glabrous . Leaves alternate , 3-foliolate , petiole 1-2 cm ; leaflets sessile , 15-35 x 5-10 mm , elliptic-oblong , the terminal leaflet largest , apex obtuse , base cuneate , ± unequal , margin entire , glabrous , sticky . Inflorescences in axillary and terminal thyrsoid panicles up to 7 cm long ; pedicel ± 1 mm . Flowers ± 1 mm across , cream . Female flowers: calyx 5-lobed , lobes ± 0 . 5 mm , glabrous ; petals ± 1 mm , cream ; ovary globose , 1-celled . Fruit drupe , 2-3 mm in diameter , subglobose , reddish at maturity , glabrous , 1-seeded . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
