The plant is sometimes given as a fodder for cattle. It is well-known locally as 'nayniyah'. The vernacular names 'khwiat al jiljilan' and 'jilajilinah' literally means 'the sister of coriander' and 'the little coriander' respectively; referred to the similarity of the plant leaves to coriander.
