Spiny shrub ; up to 30 cm high . Stems and branches intricate , many arising from the base , grey-green , pubescent to glabrous . Leaves rigid , divided into 3-5 spine-tipped segments up to 5 cm ; petiole up to 5 cm , sheathing at the base , pubescent . Inflorescences in congested terminal umbels , 10-11 mm in diameter , with the outer flowers male and the inner hermaphrodite ; rays many ; peduncle ± 3 mm ; bracts 5-7 , 5-6 mm long , spine-like , densely pubescent ; bracteoles 4-5 , linear , spin-like , densely pubescent . Flowers purple-pink ; calyx minute ; petals purple with white margins , ± 1 mm , emarginate ; styles 2 , distinct . Fruit ±5 mm , ovoid , pilose . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
