Scandix pecten-veneris L.

This species is native to Europe, Macaronesia, extending to NW India; introduced world wide. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is one species of Scandix occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual herb ; up to 10 cm high . Stems erect , branched , ± deeply sulcate , pubescent to glabrous , becoming hollow with age . Leaves 3-pinnate , deeply segmented with linear lobes , entire ; petiole sheathing at the base . Inflorescences umbels with 1–3 stout rays ; rays 0 . 6–2 cm long ; bract single , linear or absent ; bracteoles several , lanceolate or linear , entire or incised . Flowers white ; calyx inconspicuous ; petals ± 1 mm ; styles 2 , short . Fruit 2-3 cm , linear-cylindrical , slightly compressed laterally , scabrous . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 2) .
