Robust clump-forming succulent perennial herb ; up to 4 cm high . Stems light grey-green . Inflorescences in apical clusters , with about 20 flowers ; pedicel 10 mm . Flowers with an unpleasant carrion-like smell , dark red ; corolla campanulate , ± 40 mm across , densely papillose with dark red papillae ; lobes with clavate hairs at tips or hairs lacking ; corona dark red , outer lobes pubescent , the inner lobes incumbent on the staminal column . Fruit follicle , ± 12 cm , ovoid , acute , glabrous . Seeds plumose at tips . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
