Desmidorchis tardellii Mosti & Raffaelli

This species is native to S Oman. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 9 species of Desmidorchis found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Clump-forming succulent perennial herb ; up to 40 cm high . Stems succulent , branching from the base and above , 4-angled in cross-section , grey-green to purple-brown to red-tinged in colour . Leaves absent . Inflorescences in apical umbellate of 35−60 flowers ; pedicels 2 . 5−3 . 5 cm . Flowers sweet smelling , creamy-white to pale yellow ; calyx 5-lobed almost to base , lobes 2−3 mm , narrowly triangular , reddish-brown ; corolla creamy-white , cup-shaped at base , 5-lobed ; lobes spreading , 6−8 mm , narrowly triangular , acute ; corona pale yellow , in 2 series: outer corona lobes erect , bifid to the base with 2 narrow segments 1 . 5−2 mm long ; inner lobes obtuse , incumbent over the staminal column ; pollinia solitary in each anther locule , ascending . Fruit follicles , 10−12 cm , paired , erect , narrowly ovoid , acute , glabrous . Seeds with a tuft of white hairs at the tip .
