Monolluma hexagona (Lavranos) Meve & Liede

This species is native to Arabian Peninsula (S Oman, Saudi Arabia & SE Yemen). (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 species of Monolluma found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Clump-forming succulent herb ; up to 50 cm tall . Stems strongly branching , succulent , 4–6-angled , grey-green or green . Leaves absent . Inflorescences of 3–10 flowers in subapical clusters ; pedicel green , 4–10 mm ; peduncle short , long-tapering ; bracts short , linear . Flowers reddish-brown ; corolla rotate to campanulate , 12–22 mm in diameter , lobes greenish-white on the outside , with red to brown to purple-brown wart-like spots on the lobes , purple-brown within , papillose , papillae reddish-brown ; lobes ciliate or not ; corona cupular , dark purple-brown ; outer lobes deeply bifid ; inner lobes incumbent on the anthers .
