Slender climber or perennial creeper herb ; up to 1(-2) m long , with milky juice . Stems much-branched , numerous , slender , twinning ; young shoots tomentose , with soft white hairs , becoming glabrous . Leaves opposite , deciduous ; leaf lamina 3–9 × 0 . 2–0 . 7 cm , thin , linear-lanceolate , apex acute , base rounded or cuneate , pale green , glabrous ; veins conspicuous beneath , sparsely pubescent at least towards the base of the lower surface ; petiole 3–9 mm , glabrescent . Inflorescences in raceme-like cymes 2(-4)-flowered , glabrous or sparsely pubescent ; peduncle 1 . 9–3 . 3 cm long ; bracts lanceolate , ± 1 mm , deciduous ; pedicels 11–16 mm long , slender , becoming robust in fruit . Flowers white with pink or maroon markings ; calyx-lobes reddish , ovate-oblong to ovate-lanceolate , acute , 3 × 1–1 . 5 mm , pubescent , particularly towards the apex ; corolla white with pink or maroon markings , lobed to about half-way ; tube saucer-shaped , ± 10 mm in diameter , ± 5 mm deep , glabrous except for the annular corona which forms a shallow , minutely but ... densely pubescent rim around the base of the gynostegium ; lobes triangular , ± 6 × 5–7 mm with acute , reflexed apices ; staminal corona lobes swollen and wrinkled towards the base , adnate to the gynostegium for ± 2 . 5 mm , narrowing abruptly to the 1 . 5–2 mm long , acuminate ; gynostegium ± 3 × 1 mm ; anther-appendages acute , membranous . Fruits follicles , ± 3 cm long , 8 mm wide , lanceolate and somewhat sickle-shaped , rounded at the base and tapering to an obtuse or truncate apex , glabrous .
