Plumeria rubra L.

This species is native to Mexico, extending to Venezuela; introduced elsewhere. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is one known species of Plumeria occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Deciduous shrub or small tree ; up to 7–8 m high , with white latex . Stems much branched , ± repeated divaricate ; branchlets succulent . Leaves alternate , 12−40 , 6−10 x 0 . 5−5 cm , narrowly elliptic , apex acute , green , thick and leathery , glaucous . Inflorescences axillary . Flowers showy , white or pink or reddish-pink , usually with a yellow throat , infundibuliform , fragrant . Fruit drupaceous , divergent , obtriangular , apiculate ; mesocarp fleshy . Seeds winged . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
