This species is native to Tropical & Subtropical Asia to Queensland (Torres Strait Islands); widely naturalized throughout the warm temperate and tropical regions of the world. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 2 species of Bidens found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).
Annual herb ; up to 1 m tall , hispidulous in all parts . Stems erect , branched , leafy , scabrid-pilose . Leaves opposite , up to 10 x 4 cm , narrowly ovate , basally attenuate into a petiolate base and apically acuminate , margins serrate ; petiole 1 cm , pilose . Inflorescences inconspicuously radiate , on wiry , several cms long peduncles axillary and at the end of the branches . Flowers white ; ray flowers few , pistillate ; disc flowers perfect , tubular . Fruit achenes , 4–6 mm long , slender-obpyramidal , 3-angular , blackish . Seeds pappus , tiny , barbellate bristles from a small corona in the centre of the truncate achene apex . (Ref .
