Annual or biennial herb ; up to 20 cm high . Stems ± erect , slender , pubescent , leafy . Leaves 2–6 x 1-2 cm , lanceolate , base clasping , apex obtuse , margins entire to remotely denticulate . Inflorescences solitary at the end of the branches , on stout peduncles . Flowers ray flowers pistillate , yellow or orange ; disc flowers perfect but functionally staminate , yellow , tubular . Fruit achenes , polymorphic , strongly tuberculate at the back , the marginal boat-shaped and beaked , to 15 mm long (or more) , others boat-shaped to annulate . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
