Centaurea wendelboi Wagenitz

This species is native to S Iran and Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 5 species of Centaurea found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Cushion forming subshrub ; up to ± 50 cm high . Stems weakly tomentose , glabrescent . Leaves lyrately divided (the lower) to linear-lanceolate and ± entire , weakly tomentose , glabrescent . Inflorescences solitary at the end of the branches . Flowers bright yellow , glandular-sticky , much exceeding the involucre . Fruit achenes , 5–6 mm long . Seeds pappus , 6-7 mm long , innermost row of bristles as long as the outer . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .

Not used traditionally. However, honey bees known hovering around its showy yellow flowers during spring season. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).
