Perennial herb ; up to 1 m high . Stems erect to ascending , branched , rigid , leafy . Leaves concentrated in a basal rosette , grey-green , with white midribs , deeply toothed margins and white spines . Inflorescences solitary at the end of the stem , large , round head , with radiating spines of different lengths . Flowers pale brown , tubular , perfect .
