Annual to pauciennial herb ; up to 20–40 cm high , often woody based , pubescent with short arced hairs and glandular . Stems erect , simple or branched near the base , covered with long white hairs . Leaves up to ± 40 x 20 mm , sessile , obovate to spathulate and tapering into a petiol-like proximal portion up to almost half as long as the rest , distally shallowly crenate to pinnately lobed . Inflorescences in a corymbose synflorescence at the end of the branches . Flowers pale yellow , the outer pistillate , filiform , with a tiny , 2–4-fid ray lamina ; inner , much fewer ones perfect , tubular . Fruit achenes , ± 1 mm long , obovoid and somewhat compressed , glandular . Seeds pappus , caducous , of white , ± 1 . 5-2 mm long bristles often intermixed with a few ± 0 . 3 mm long ones . (Ref .
