Compact dome shaped shrub ; up to 80 cm high , glabrous in most parts . Stems erect , branched , grey . Leaves up to 6 x 0 . 6 cm , dark green , crowded towards the top of the branches , linear to linear-lanceolate , usually unlobed , entire , somewhat coriaceous , pointing upwards . Inflorescences single flower heads , on 2-6 cm long peduncles in the upper leaf axiles of the branches ; involucre hemispherical , 5–10 mm wide , of 6–10 lanceolate phyllaries in one row , connate to the middle . Flowers yellow , with a sweet scent ; ray flowers 6-11 ; disk flowers 20-30 . Fruit achenes , 3-4 mm long , brown , dry , with a tuft of white hair . Seeds pappus , of numerous white , flexible bristles up to 3 mm long . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .

The species is a well known in traditional medicine as a useful treatement for various eye ailments. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden). In Omani Studies: Patzelt (2015) wrote that: "This species is unpalatable to livestock, and thus is found in higher densities in areas where grazing animals are abundant". (Ref.
