Filago abyssinica Sch. Bip. ex A.Rich.

This species is native to NE Tropical Africa, S Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 4 species of Filago found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Small , annual herb ; up to 10 cm high , greyish tomentose . Stems erect , branched . Leaves usually spathulate , up to 20 × 5 mm , entire , apex obtuse to acute . Inflorescences crowded in globose axillary or terminal clusters . Flowers pale yellow ; marginal flowers filiform , pistillate ; disk flowers tubular and perfect . Fruit achenes , less than 1 mm long , narrowly obovoid , somewhat compress . Seeds pappus , of white caducous bristles 2–2 . 5 mm long . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
