Filago griffithii (A.Gray) Andrés-Sánchez & Galbany

This species is native to E Mediterranean, eastwards to Arabian Paninsula, Central Asia and Pakistan. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 4 species of Filago found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Tiny , annual herb with adpressed , white-woolly indumentum . Stems procumbent , very short . Leaves alternate , to 15 × 3 mm , linear-elliptic to linear-spathulate , acute , mucronate . Inflorescences pedunculate , aggregated into dense terminal or axillary densely woolly glomerules , 10–20 mm across and surrounded by leaves . Flowers purple ; marginal flowers pistillate , filiform ; central flowers functionally male , tubular . Fruit achenes of marginal flowers 1–1 . 5 mm long , compressed , glabrous ; of central flowers vestigial , sparsely hairy . Seeds pappus , in marginal achenes absent , in the vestigial central achenes of a few caducous bristles . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
