A small , greyish perennial herb or subshrub ; up to 25-30 cm high . Stems erect , branched , spreading , slender , white-tomentose to glabrescent , usually crowded leafy basally . Leaves alternate , up to 3 x 1 cm , spatulate to elliptic or linear , edges curled inwards , usually densely white-tomentose , pale grey , concentrated at the base of the plant . Inflorescences tight clusters of 10-20 capitula at the end of the flowering stems , surrounded by white bracts . Flowers white or pale yellow , never open fully ; outer flowers filiform , pistillate ; inner flowers tubular , perfect . Fruit achenes , 0 . 5-1 mm long , brown with glands and tufts of hair on the top . Seeds pappus , of caducous , white bristles in one row , 2 . 5-3 mm long . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
