Ifloga spicata (Forssk.) Sch.Bip.

This species is native to Macaronesia, Mediterranean, extending to Arabian Peninsula, and India. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is only one species of Ifloga occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual herb ; up to 10 cm high . Stems few , tufted , densely leafy , of bottle-brush-like appearance . Leaves linear , to 20 × 1 mm , tomentose above and ± glabrous below , becoming ± involute . Inflorescences by 1–3 per node crowded in long , leafy racemiform synflorescences . Flowers straw-coloured to reddish-brown ; the outer boat-shaped , enveloping the filiform , pistillate flowers ; the inner persistent , surrounding the tubular , perfect disc flowers . Fruit achenes , less than 1 mm long , glandular . Seeds pappus , present only in the perfect disc flowers , of ± 10 apically plumose , ± 2 mm long bristles . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
