Compact perennial herb ; up to 80 cm high . Stems and branches herbaceous , spreading-erect , hollow , leafy . Leaves alternate , up to 6 × 3 cm , cuneate to spathulate , apically truncate , tapering towards the short stalk , entire to dentate , bright green , slightly succulent . Inflorescences solitary or in a loosely corymbiform synflorescence at the end of the branches . Flowers bright yellow ; ray flowers sterile , ray lamina 4–8 mm long ; disc flowers perfect . Fruit achene , 3–4 mm long , ellipsoidal , ribbed and hairy , with a short glandular apical neck , brown . Seeds pappus , whitish , with an inner row of 5–15 bristles ± 10 mm long and an outer row of narrowly triangular scales up to ± 0 . 5 mm long . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .

The plant is sometimes used in a small way as a narcotic, as it is said that taking a small amount of it causes dizziness. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden). In Omani studies: Pickering & Patzelt (2008) wrote that: "Very poisonous, and may kill camels". (Ref. Field Guide to the Wild Plants of Oman; 2008).
