Iphiona scabra DC. ex Decne.

This species is native to E Mediterranean, extending to Arabian Peninsula and NE Tropical Africa. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 5 species of Iphiona found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Subshrub ; up to 60 cm high . Stems strongly branched , glandular or glabrous . Leaves up to o 5 × 0 . 7 cm , linear and subulate to narrowly lanceolate , spathulate or elliptic and pungent , flat to canaliculate or folded along the midrib , entire or dentate to pinnatifid . Inflorescences solitary or by 3–10 in a loosely corymbiform synflorescence at the end of the branches . Flowers yellow , all tubular and perfect . Fruit achenes , ellipsoidal to obconical , ribbed and hairy , 2–3 mm long . Seeds pappus , 5–6 mm long , of numerous brownish bristles in serveral series , the inner successively longer than the outer . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
