Succulent perennial ; up to 7 cm in diameter , glabrous . Stems Pendent to procumbent or erect , stout , jointed ; nodes raised to ± prominent mounds , becoming less prominent with age , and with 7–9 deeper green or purplish-green radiating lines . Leaves only at young shoots , elliptic or linear-lanceolate to linear-spathulate , acute , very variable in size , up to 14 × 2 cm , somewhat fleshy . Inflorescences solitary on 15–60 cm long , apically swollen peduncles arising from the end of the stem . Flowers ± 30–100 , yellow to orange , perfect , tubular . Fruit achenes , ± cylindric , 2–4 mm long , villose . Seeds pappus ± 15–22 mm long , of numerous barbellate , white bristles . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
