In Omani studies: Miller & Morris (1988) wrote that: "Medicinally, the importance of this plant lay in the effect its juice had on painful, paralysed or stiff limbs. Quantities of the greener material and the growing tips were gathered, then were roughly broken up, crushed, and put into the container of water and left to macerate overnight, preferably with a piece of iron in or across the container as well. The strained liquid was then used as a liniment to treat a variety of painful conditions, especially of the lower limbs and the back, such a sciatica, lumbago, rheumatism, arthritis, and swollen or or infected joints, as well as to try and stimulate and reactivate paralysed limbs [J: en' 'argil 'egdol, DA: ksahh], such as those resulting from stroke or polio and so on. The affected areas were bathed in the liquid and massaged daily for a period of up
