Koelpinia linearis Pall.

This species is native to SE Spain, N Africa, extending to Sahara and Arabian Peninsula, Ukraine to W China and W Himalaya. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There is only one species of Koelpinia occurs in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual herb ; up to 30 cm tall , with white latex , glabrous to pubescent . Stems sparsely branched already from base , several , weak , slender . Leaves almost linear up to 10 × 0 . 2 cm . Inflorescences with less than 10 yellow flowers , on slender peduncles , single or by a few at the end of the branches . Flowers pale yellow , little exceeding the involucre . Fruit achenes , stellately spreading , 8–15 mm long , narrowly cylindric and falcately curved , with a longitudinal groove on the inner side and numerous hooked spines on the outer side , distally attenuate and with a few outwards curved spines on the tip . Seeds pappus , absent . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
