An erect perennial herb ; to more than 1 m high , with white latex , and a long thick semi-woody taproot . Stems solitary or several , somewhat glaucous . Leaves mainly in the lower portion of the stem , up to 20 cm long , narrowly lanceolate , entire or sinuate-dentate and up to 2 cm wide , sometimes pinnately lobed with lobes to 3 cm long . Inflorescences with up to ± 15 flowers ; in a paniculiform synflorescence . Flowers bluish or whitish . Fruit achenes , (including beak) 4 . 5–8 mm long , body reddish brown , strongly compressed , 1-ribbed on either side and wrinkled , ± 3–5 mm long , the white to greenish-white , filiform beak 1 . 5–3 . 5 mm long . Seeds pappus , of many barbellate white bristles , 5–7 mm long . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
