Launaea almahrahensis N.Kilian

This species is native to S Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 12 species of Launaea found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Perennial rosette herb ; up to 10–20 cm high , with white latex . Stems procumbent to ascending , divaricately branched , leafless . Leaves rosette , up to 9 × 2 . 5 cm , obovate to spathulate , sinuate-dentate to pinnatipartite with rounded segments , margins denticulate . Inflorescences solitary at the end of the branches , peduncles 0 . 5–2 . 5 cm long . Flowers yellow . Fruit achenes , including a short beak of 0 . 3–0 . 5 mm length , ± 4 mm long , inner ones glabrous , marginal ones covered with minute dustgrain-like and 0 . 1–0 . 2 mm long , spreading , linear-lanceolate papillae . Seeds pappus , 5–9 mm long , caducous , of downy hairs and bristles . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
