Cushion-forming , spinescent subshrub ; up to 30 cm high , with white latex . Stems intricately and divaricately branched ; flowering branches divaricately branched and zig-zag-forming . Leaves only found on young branches , to 8 × 2 cm , spathulate , denticulate and sinuate-dentate to pinnatipartite . Inflorescences of divaricately branched , zig-zag-forming lignified axes ; peduncles 0 . 6–2 cm long , subulate , remaining as spines after shedding the capitula . Flowers bright yellow . Fruit achenes , 3–4 mm long , smooth to wrinkled , glabrous , dry brown with a single seed . Seeds pappus , 6–7 mm long , of downy hairs and bristles . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
