Launaea crassifolia (Balf. f.) C.Jeffrey

This species is native to Somalia, Socotra, S Arabian Peninsula. (Ref. POWO; 2023). There are 12 species of Launaea found in Oman. (Ref. Oman Botanic Garden).

Annual to pauciennial herb ; uo to 50 cm high , with white latex . Stems ascending to erect , leafy , ± branched . Leaves up to 15 × 7 cm , obovate to lanceolate , sinuate-dentate to irregularly pinnatipartite , except for the basal ones distinctly auriculate . Inflorescences with few to several pedunculate capitula . Flowers bright yellow . Fruit achenes , 3–6 mm long , apically attenuate or with astout beak to 1/3 of the achene length , glabrous (the innermost ones) to densely papillose (the marginal) . Seeds pappus , 4–7 mm long , of downy hairs and bristles , or of bristles only and caducous . (Ref . Flora of Oman ; vol . 3) .
