In Omani studies: Miller & Morris (1988) wrote that: "After rain, the root slowly swells until it reaches the size of a finger and more, depending on the quality of the soil in which it is growing. Great care has to be taken in digging it up as the stem and leaves are extremely fragile, and the swollen root can grow at a great depth. Once dug up and the outer skin rubbed off, this swollen root provided a very sweet and juicy snak. These plants were formerly very common, and were then a not unimportant item of diet at a time of year when livestock had not yet come into full milk (in the post-monsoon season). certainly inculding over-grazing". (Ref. Plants of Dhofar). In addition, Ghazanfar (2015) mentioned that: "The sweet and juicy tuber was dug out and eaten by local people". (Ref. Flora of Oman; vol.3). In Oman Plant Red Data Book, Patzelt (2015) stated that: "Collected by local people for food. The roots were eaten as a sweet and juicy snack". (Ref. Oman Plant Red Data Book; 2015).
